IBM and Oracle - Introduction

This is the first blog on IBM and Oracle and I thought to create it ahead of the Collaborate 2011 conference in Orlando - April 10-14, 2011. For a while IBMandOracle has been a Twitter handle @IBMandOracle and topics of interest to IBM n Oracle community has been Tweeted there.

So what would be a topic of common interest in the world of co-optetion! Well how about Oracle RDBMS 11g R2 on IBM's System Z:
#Oracle database 11gR2 is now generally available for #Linux on #IBM #SystemZ #Mainframe ! http://bit.ly/bxzTd3

While the competition has been highlighted in recent years between IBM and Oracle, specially after the Sun acquisition by Oracle, the fact remains that IBM - GBS or the global business service is one of the largest System Integrators for Oracle ERP stack such as Oracle E-business Suite (EBS). The proof is the Gartner and Forrester's rating year after year in that space. Through the blog pages here, I will post items of interest to the IBM and Oracle community such as the IBM participation in the major Oracle related events such as Collaborate and Oracle Openworld.

  1. Many good sessions planned for Collaborate '11. Come see the IBM presentation Monday afternoon on 'Upgrades vs. Re-implementations' ... we'll discuss how business transformation may allow you to get more value from your Oracle EBS footprint than a pure technical upgrade.
